Synopsis
While the game's missions are the same regardless of character, they provide differences in both perspectives and abilities. Corvo has the tricks from the first game, while Emily's sinister skills are darker and manipulative in nature. This definitely gives you more reasons to replay the game. There are plenty of those already there as well, such as taking a different route, of which there are many, or choosing to play either a pacifist or an assassin, depending on how you go through your first run.
A new game also means a new playground, and Karnaca is every bit the same Dunwall's. The coastal city is a vertical sandbox rich in hidden dangers, winding alleys, and vast city squares with spotlight towers, which most of you will see from rooftops and balconies as you try to avoid the ever-watchful guards. I wouldn't go so far as to call Pairs 2's enemies 'intelligent', which is good because if we're honest with ourselves, truly intelligent enemies would probably turn a stealth game into a nightmare. What they were, however, was warning, reactive, and blessed with far better vision than their predecessors. If you peek around a corner, for example, they'll eventually see you, and when they hunt you down, they beset their pursuers, investigating the nooks and crannies and working together. Ultimately, it's still relatively easy to escape after being spotted, but when it often comes at the cost of health and energy (and bottles that fill up the meter), it still feels like a sign against you if you're going to go full stealth.
Karnaca very much rejected 2's third protagonist, and the occasional cruel antagonist. It's filled to the brim with characters and flashy gadgetry: a blood-stained moat near the fish market, towering windmills that house various electrical mechanical elements of the city (welcome back, Walls of Light), and a monorail system with ancient trains that evoke their counterparts. horse-drawn counterpart. Although it may be blessed with disparate areas and buildings, the city remains a cohesive, logical place, making planning routes on rooftops and down alleys enjoyable rather than frustrating.
