Synopsis
The storyline in Black Ops is told from the perspective of Alex Mason, which is one of the unique features Treyarch offers. Therefore, it seems that the developers strongly emphasize these characters. In Black Ops, Alex and other characters frequently speak talk, in contrast to earlier series when the characters you control hardly ever do. Additionally, you will frequently see the face of the character you are portraying here. Because it is told from Alex Mason's point of view, you can see the relationships between the characters in great detail. For example, you can see how Mason feels about Woods and Bowman, his partners while on a mission, or Viktor Reznov, and you can also learn the reasons behind Mason's hatred of Dragovich.
Without giving away any plot details, Alex Mason is the main character of Black Ops. He chases for Dragovich's gadget pal in order to exact personal retribution and to foil Dragovich's scheme. Throughout the missions he was on, Alex allegedly also discovered and guarded a significant secret, which is today the target of other organizations.
