The division of goals and playing style is indicative of twin protagonists. Within the Syndicate, Victorian London served as the global hub, and the Templars were in complete control of the city at all levels. They run businesses, run institutions, and even run the street gangs in London. Worse yet, they are constantly searching for applications for their superhuman abilities and all-powerful chunks of Eden. Building a new gang, the Rooks, to battle a chosen gang of Templars, the Blighters, and eliminating them borough by borough and region by region is Jacob's plan to defeat the Templar forces on the move. Eden's piece is what Evie wants, however. He enjoys operating in the shadows, learning what the Templars are up to, and outwitting them to win.
In terms of gameplay, this offers two sets of missions: one string follows Evie's quests and fights against high Templars, while in the background you get embroiled in gang wars through repetitious set activities and story-based missions. Along with purging the fort of blighters, you may also be required to execute some undesirables to remove them from the picture or capture well-known gangsters and give them to Inspector Abberline of Scotland Yard. By freeing the poor hedgehog from labor, you can lessen the hold that the blighters have over them. You will engage in a dramatic gang combat with a nearby wrecking boss once you have eliminated all of the gang's objectives from the area. Actually, it resembles a post-pub fight more than Gangs of New York.
